SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
The partner territories are characterized by the phenomenon of new cities, new centers which have (typically) been carefully planned in underdeveloped and, usually, uninhabited territories. The project aims at developing a multi-sector strategic plan for the new cities analyzing, integrating and combining the productive, cultural, environmental and social potentials and needs, in order to: promote international dialogue between the partner territories through cooperation, experiences sharing and networking actions; foster a “Glocal” (local, connected to the international context) development and create opportunities by valorizing cultural heritage and tourism resources; finally, promote the new Mediterranean cities as cultural resources and tourist destinations.
OBJECTIVES: ● To promote a process of sustainable and harmonious cooperation for the New Cities of the Mediterranean Sea Basin in order to reduce imbalances and to enhance development abilities. A cooperation aiming at protecting historical and cultural heritage and promoting tourism. ● To promote a balanced socio-economic development, enhancing the territories of the New Cities, integrating and strengthening synergies at the territorial level. ● Strengthening the national strategies of the territories by integrating the different levels in order to promote sustainable development.
ACTIVITIES:
- Creation of a network of Mediterranean New Cities.
- IV generation strategic plan (UNESCO Plans).
- Creation of a Euro-Mediterranean Widespread Museum on New Cities.
- Implementation of a strategic communication plan at local and transnational level.
RESULTS:
- Euro-Mediterranean Widespread Museum on New Cities, created.
- UNESCO Plan implemented.
- Communication instrument at local and transnational level for informing about the history and cultural heritage of New Towns, created.
