SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: Restructuring and strengthening the dairy chain in terms of professional training and technologies, supporting national competitiveness, allowing human capital and those public and private institutions involved in the project to achieve a constant sustainability. Once the milk chain is strengthened, the network gathering the raw material and the network distributing the end product, with the relative specific skills provided to the workers, become a local center of excellence, giving to previously selected youth the possibility to create a milk-processing cluster at the regional level.
OBJECTIVES: Promoting the improvement of living conditions for local population, through the creation of employment opportunities and the acquisition of professional skills which trigger a process of sustainable and constant socio-economic development, based on the improvement of the dairy chain, contributing at the same time to the reduction of migration flows towards Europe and other countries.
ACTIVITIES:
- Know-how and professional skills transfer, in order to make the dairy chain able to absorb local workforce; creating and organizing a network system for local sustainable development. The project consists of a series of interrelated stages.
- Strengthening of local networks and training activities aiming at the creation and management of a cooperative for milk collection, processing, sale of products, quality control for the production processes, technical maintenance of the facility and the equipment. This stage also pertains the management of a micro-credit fund to support in accessing the industry.
- Improvement of technologies and mechanization of the milk-processing stage, with the implementation of a series of plants (from dairy to photovoltaic) able to optimize production and make it suitable for national markets.
- Territorial animation aimed at a systematic, synergic and multi-targeted communication towards direct and indirect beneficiaries, to ensure the involvement of local populations.
- International campaign centered on the opportunities of assisted repatriation, on the dangers of illegal migration and on the importance of local development and decent work.
- Coordination, monitoring, evaluation and hand-over of the factory, after the conclusion of the project, to the network of cooperatives and under the supervision of partner NGOs.
RESULTS:
- Dairy chain, from milk supply, to the dairy factory, to products sale and distribution, strengthened and functioning.
- Dairy chain cooperative, with a future economic viability, created and launched; training courses organized and implemented; microcredit fund arranged and relative procedures codified.
- Information campaign on migration phenomena in the international context and on opportunities of assisted repatriation, organized and disseminated.
