Activities in Developing Countries
The Institute promotes and carries out, in developing Countries, projects of international cooperation funded and co-funded by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Welfare and Social Policies, by Italian local bodies and other International Organization, as follows:
1. Study of identification, pre-feasibility and feasibility
•    Identification of projects or field of action in the framework of programs involving different levels of local society.
•    Preparation of projects/programs, project submission and operating plans (forms, timetables and budget plans).
•    Economic and financial analysis of projects; costs-benefits analysis.
2. Consultancy and technical assistance
•    Consultancy and technical assistance (Professional Training and Trade Union Training).
•    Consultancy and technical assistance of project submission and forms and support of projects in progress. 3. Implementation
•    Implementation of projects, or specific modules in bigger programs, in which the participation of NGOs or UN Agencies is possible.
•    Selection, professional training, trainers training; sending of experts, local staff training, local organisation, promotion of institutional and trade unions relationships. 4. Monitoring and evaluating
•    Project monitoring activity, inter media – before and after evaluations. Evaluation of environmental impact and project social impact at local and regional levels.
•    Accountability evaluation and auditors.
Activities in Italy and European Union
Raising public awareness of problems in developing countries and Millennium Goals: The Institute focuses its attention on Developing Awareness Initiatives addressed to workers, young people, and students that highlight the importance of solidarity and the means of improving the living condition of people of the South. This is considered the heritage of Italian trade union movement. The most important initiatives concern:
•    Information and training courses for operators in the development sector
•    Production of magazines and audiovisual products
•    Conferences and seminars at the international level, in schools and in the work place.
One of the most recent and important information activities concerning development was organised by the Institute in 2005 in collaboration of Italian Cooperation (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs). The exhibition, “Solidarity and Commitment: 30 Years of Italian Cooperation in the World”, took place in the Complesso del Vittoriano, in Rome, with the official support and patronage of Senato of Repubblica Italiana (Italian Senate). The Project was co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was very successful, garnering a lot of public attention.
